Description:
FS1 Tech Room Description
The Thoth is the most dangerous ship to be created by the PVN. Manufactured solely at the Altairian Ship Yards, the Thoth has only been produced in small numbers as of yet. When the Altairian Yards defected to the Hammer of Light rebels, the production of Thoths by the PVN dropped to nil. The Thoth is now completely in the hands of the Hammer of Light.
What makes the Thoth so versatile is its small size, extremely high maneuverability, and advanced weapon systems. It is extremely difficult to hit, in the hands of a skilled pilot. The design for the Thoth was simultaneous with the design for the Ulysses, and these two ships were designed by some of the same technicians. Thus they are quite a match for our Ulysses class fighters. This is why they are considered a B class threat. Any non registered Thoths should be destroyed immediately, and their presence reported upon completion of the mission.
FS2 Tech Room Description
The GVF Thoth has been manufactured exclusively in the Sahr Corp.'s shipyards at Altair for over 40 years. During the heyday of the Hammer of Light, the HoL captured these yards and the Thoth became a primary fighter among HoL forces. When these shipyards were recaptured, the Thoth once again became an important component of the Vasudan navy. In the hands of a skilled pilot, the Thoth's maneuverability and small size make it a hard target to hit. A single missile bank means that a Thoth pilot relies on his primary weapons to make most kills.
Developer Notes
Excellent fighter. Small and hard to hit, with speed and maneuverability to match. Good payload makes it the most versatile fighter in the PVN.
Name origin
Thoth was an important god in Egyptian mythology. His roles were numerous, and vary between sources. He is most commonly associated with mediating disputes between good and evil. He is also considered to be the god to have taught the Egyptians writing.

Veteran Comments
Odd discrepancy between the construction dates of the Thoth. FS1 clearly states that it was designed simultaneously with the Ulysses, meaning its manufacture could start no earlier than 2335, yet FS2 says the fighter had been in production for "over 40 years." Personally, I accept the FS1 date over the FS2, mostly because of the close relationship between it and the Ulysses. While not designed by the same team, it does say some of the same engineers worked on the projects.
Despite what the FS2 Tech Description says, the Thoth's lone secondary bank is actually quite spacious, fitting up to 32 Harpoon missiles. This compares favorably with the secondary capacities of the Myrmidon and Perseus: it's identical, only in one bank instead of three or two. Similarly, it has only a single primary weapons bank, but has four guns, giving it impressive rate of fire but little adaptablity once committed to the field. The main fault with this ship in FS2 lies not in the Thoth's weapons but its FS1-era ability to absorb damage, which is badly deficient by FS2. The Thoth is a capable medium and space-superiority craft even in the FS2 era, and probably the best matchup the Vasudans have against the Perseus for best all-arounder.
Compared to the Ulysses this ship has superior firepower, but pays for it with much weaker shielding. On balance I prefer the Terran fighter.
Fun to fly but no good for doing real work. You really can't do anything but dogfight in this, and more often than not, you won't have the opportunity to do nothing but that in the campaign.
