Ship history
An Orion-class destroyer is shown being destroyed by the SD Lucifer in the FreeSpace 2 intro cutscene. As Volition has allegedly stated that this destroyer is not the Galatea, the community has labelled it as the Legion. The destroyer's nameplate area is not visible during the cutscene. The canonicity of the name has not been seriously debated by the community, although Volition never referenced the destroyer as the Legion.
