Background

The GTD Orestes's analysts have conducted an autopsy of the inhabitants of the Hermes escape pod you and your squad found in Earth orbit and concluded that they have been dead for several decades. Supporting their conclusion is the timestamp on a video recording they recovered from the same escape pod. This recording was apparently taken shortly before the pod lost main power.

As a commander in the GTVA, you, Samuel Bei, have been given an encrypted copy of this very recording.

Notes

• This cutscene went through a major overhaul in the Director's Cut. The battle is lengthier and features multiple Terran and Shivan cruisers duking it out. In addition, the camera now moves around the battlefield, rotating and focusing on several objects throughout its flight.
