Ship history

An Orion-class destroyer is shown being destroyed by the SD Lucifer in the FreeSpace 2 intro cutscene. Volition was fairly clear this ship was not the Galatea. A community member asked if the ship could be called the Legion. Volition responded, "Call it that if you want," so the ship is generally referred to as the Legion.

In the Silent Threat: Reborn continuity, the Legion served as the central command ship for GTI before it was destroyed. Its destruction at the Battle of Deneb led to the decentralization of GTI operations, which in turn enabled R&D to launch the Hades Rebellion.
