Development
Just like the other SerRes campaigns, Serendipity or Srdp started as an independent and unofficial Inferno endeavor by its author, Mobius. Progress on this campaign started on September 11th, 2008, and the project entered a limbo phase for several years, until the author decided to resurrect the campaign and work intensely on the plot alongside SR's co-leader Nyctaus, then complete it.
Serendipity is the first of the two planned Entanglement campaigns.
Story
The Great War is a closed chapter of the history of both Terrans and Vasudans: during the Reconstruction Era, blocs emerge as sovereign entities on multiple colonies of former GTA space and begin working steadily on their economical growth, as well as the consolidation of their military forces. By 2342, entities such as the Adhara Coalition and the Regulus Syndicate are well established and fully recognized by the Parliamentary Vasudan Empire, each capable of designing and developing new classes of combat spacecraft and warships. Serving as a pilot of the 274th Warhounds based onboard the fine ACD Uhuru, an Adharan Orion class destroyer, the player will experience the dark side of relations between various blocs, while a new potential threat emerges from nowhere, capable of changing things forever.
As per SerRes' style, Serendipity will also feature fictions before each mission. Shown texts are in part related to the campaign, but also try to answer some of the big questions about the FreeSpace Universe.
Notes
Just like other SR campaigns, Serendipity will be centered on a system that takes account of the player's accomplishments during the playthrough, and the overall performance has certain consequences on the final outcome. The final mission, in fact, has two possible endings, and the chances of getting either are in part due to the achievement of key objectives during the campaign itself.
Loading screens will also mention quotes from a literature author of past times.
